Bought this book to us for a college class. I took the book to my practicum site (a preschool), to my class of 2-3 year old. They loved the story and loved looking at themselves in the little mirror at the back of the book. When I read what each of the children looked liked in the book they all got really excited and said they looked just like the children in the story. I would recommend this book to any teacher or parent who's looking for an anti-bias book for children.Product details

This was bought with others for a young disabled girl who was being mocked and bullied at school. It has helped her to accept herself as is and be happy with herself in spite of the taunting.
I love love love this book. My boys also love the mirror on the last page. It teaches kids to be proud of their differences and uniqueness.
I'm purchasing again as a gift.
I love that this book puts a positive spin on a lot of things we were all picked on when we were little (braces, big ears, glasses, frizzy hair). The mirror at the end gives you and your child to point out things you love about yourself. I wish I had this book when I was little!
I would give it 5 stars if the board pages were thicker. They are really thin and I'm worried my toddler is going to bend them. Still worth the purchase though!!
Very cute. Like others have said, teaches children about how differences are ok. Doesn't focus on race but more on braces, freckles, etc.
SPOILER ALERT -
At the end of the book, there's a mirror where you can let you children tell you what they like about themselves. I use that opportunity to say "what about that pretty little nose" and things like that.
I highly recommend.
Absolutely adore this book! It's such a great and simple way to teach little ones how great it is that we are all different. Whether short or tall. Glasses or not. Book also touches on braces, big feet, and unibrow as well. Really great illustrations as well so my toddler loves to read on his own.
Arrived on time. It was smaller than I expected. I expected it to be a normal size book but its quite smaller. I have not checked, but i'm sure the description for size was listed and that i just missed it when picking it out. Great book for kids! I actually like that its smaller because as a school therapist i travel to multiple schools. The smaller the items, the easier to travel.
I bought this book to teach kindergarteners about personal differences. I think it's well written in the fact that it celebrates the features that children could end up being teased about (braces, freckles, big ears). I don't like that it's a board book, and that it is so small. It makes it hard to have as a read-aloud to a class. However, I do love the message that we each have something to celebrate about ourselves, regardless of how we may be perceived by others.
